What is Keep Sprint in Minecraft?

Keep Sprint is a movement module that stops the game from canceling your sprint during moments that would normally kill it: attacking, turning sharply, stepping backward, or clipping an obstacle. Vanilla Minecraft reads those actions as proof you've stopped sprinting and drops you back to walking speed until you retrigger it by pressing forward again. Keep Sprint catches that reset before it happens and holds the sprint flag in place instead, so the speed bonus rides through the interruption. It's filed as a movement module, but almost nobody notices it while walking in a straight line. Its real home is combat, where those interruptions happen constantly.

How Keep Sprint works

Keep Sprint runs a check at exactly the moments vanilla Minecraft would normally reset your sprint flag. The vanilla client drops sprint under a short list of conditions: you attack, you turn past a certain angle relative to your direction of travel, you move backward, or you hit something solid. Each one is vanilla's way of deciding your movement no longer looks like sprinting, so it stops rewarding you with sprint speed.

The module sits in front of that decision. When one of those triggers fires, Keep Sprint intercepts it and leaves the flag set instead of letting the client fall back to a walk. Because sprint controls a real, continuous speed bonus rather than a one-off animation, the effect isn't a single frame of cheating, it's held for as long as the trigger would otherwise have slowed you down.

In a fight, this means a player can spin to face an opponent, land a hit, and keep moving at full sprint speed without the beat it normally takes to retrigger sprint by tapping forward again.

Common scenarios where it matters

Midcombat repositioning: You're fighting someone, need to strafe left, and normally that direction change cancels sprint. Keep Sprint keeps you at full speed through the pivot.

Healing up: You need to create distance by sprinting backward to chug a potion. Normally sprint dies the moment you move backward. Keep Sprint holds it.

Chasing: You're chasing someone down and land a hit. Normally that attack cancels sprint momentarily. Keep Sprint keeps you moving at full speed so you stay on top of them.

Is Keep Sprint safe to use

Keep Sprint overrides a mechanic vanilla Minecraft enforces on purpose. Sprint is supposed to reset the moment your movement stops looking like sprinting, and a server that recomputes your expected speed from your reported actions can notice you holding sprint through a moment that should have reset it. That's the same category of check used against other sprint and speed modules: not "is your speed too high" but "does your speed match what your actions say it should be?"

It's a subtler tell than a flat speed increase, since Keep Sprint never claims more speed than sprint already allows on its own. But it isn't cosmetic either. It changes what the server should expect your movement to look like at a specific tick, and that mismatch is exactly what a movement check exists to catch.
